Koert Debeuf (MA Ancient History, Leuven – Bologna) is Senior Associate Researcher at the Institute for European Studies of Brussels University (VUB). He is the author of “Inside the Arab Spring. Three years at the Front Line of the Arab Revolution” (Tielt, 2014) and “Tribalization. Why War is Coming” (Brussels, 2018). He is currently Editor in Chief of the EUobserver, an European newspaper, based in Brussels. Debeuf lived in Cairo from 2011 until 2018 from where he travelled the MENA region extensively. He is considered an expert on revolution and conflict in the Middle East and North Africa. From 2003 to 2008 he was chief advisor, speechwriter and spokesperson of the Prime Minister of Belgium.
