Under Sisi, the army has focused on consolidation of its strong position and absolute control of almost everything in Egypt. To achieve this goal, it has adopted several strategies, including allocation of a large number of significant and sensitive positions to senior officers, passing legislation that would give the army unlimited powers, as well as suppression of dissent, amid a public relations campaign to boost public confidence in the military.
