Mark Berlin


Mark is a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the George Washington University, where he studies comparative politics, Middle East politics, and political violence. 

Prior to GW, Mark earned an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University, an M.A. in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a B.A. in Political Science from Elon University. While at Elon, he also played Division-1 soccer, helping Elon make three straight NCAA tournament appearances. In pursuing his interest in Middle Eastern politics, Mark has studied Arabic in Muscat, Rabat, Jerusalem, Amman, and Beirut, volunteered as an English teacher for Palestinian students in Hebron, and interned for the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
