Spermidine (SPD) is a naturally occurring polyamine. In this study, we examined the role and possible mechanism of SPD in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice.
CIA mice were intraperitoneally injected with SPD (2 and 50 mg/kg), dexamethasone (0.5 mg/kg), or saline daily for 21 days. The severity of the disease and inflammatory responses in the serum and joint tissue were assessed through macroscopic, immunohistochemical, and histological analyses.
Macroscopic and histological results indicated that SPD protected against the development of CIA. SPD suppressed the levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-1β and increased the levels of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 in the serum. Immunohistochemical staining showed that 50 mg/kg SPD inhibited iNOS expression in synovial macrophages in the ankle joints of CIA mice.
These results suggest that SPD may protect CIA mice by inhibiting the polarization of M1 macrophages in the synovial tissue, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, and promoting anti-inflammatory factor release.

This study aimed at identifying the main antimicrobial resistance of ESKAPE (
) pathogens in a Romanian infectious diseases hospital. This antimicrobial resistance is a global threat, having high rates of multidrug resistance and limited treatment options.
This retrospective study (2016-2020) assessed the antimicrobial resistance of ESKAPE pathogens isolated from the patient’s biological samples. The microbiological diagnosis was performed by classical culture methods. The antimicrobial susceptibility analysis used the Kirby-Bauer disk-diffusion method and the method of minimum inhibiting concentration with the automated Vitek, according to the CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) standards.
Included in this study were 4293 bacterial isolates 67% Gram-negative bacilli, 31% Gram-positive cocci and 2% other morphotinctorial bacteria. ESKAPE pathogens were found in 97% of the bacterial isolates strains;
(38.26%) and
(26%) were the most prevalent. Most bacterial strains were isolated fr infectious diseases hospital, with main antimicrobial resistance ESBL, MRSA and CR. The local antimicrobial resistance pattern is essential in updating the local protocols and for appropriately prescribing antibiotics. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has still affected many countries around the world. The COVID-19 vaccine has been presented as the perfect solution for solving the current pandemic. Understanding the willingness of the community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine will help in the development and implementation of effective COVID-19 vaccination promotion programs. The aim of this study was to assess the COVID-19 vaccination acceptance and its associated factors in Sodo town, Wolaita zone, Southern Ethiopia.
A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 415 participants in Wolaita Sodo, from April 1 to 30, 2021. To collect data, structured interviewer administered questionnaire was used. A p-value ≤0.05 in a multivariable logistic regression model was considered statistically significant.
Of 415 participants, 189 (45.5%) of them accepted of COVID-19 vaccines if available. Sex (AOR=2.15, 95% CI 1.29, 3.56), educational status (AOR=3.09, 95% CI 1.50, 6.37), mass media (AOR=1.97, 95% CI 1.06, 3.63), received any vaccination during childhood (AOR=5.16, 95% CI 2.44, 10.92), family members have been diagnosed with COVID-19 (AOR=4.40, 95% CI 2.1, 9.25), friends have been diagnosed with COVID-19 (AOR=3.91, 95% CI 1.52, 10.04), and respondents have tested for COVID-19 (AOR=4.40, 95% CI 1.70, 11.36) were significantly associated with acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine.

Consumption of raw beef infected with multidrug-resistant Salmonella is pertinent to the world public health risk of antimicrobial resistance. Henceforth, this study aimed to investigate the carriage, antimicrobial resistance (AR) patterns, and the revealing risk factors of Salmonella-contaminating beef in abattoirs and butcher shops in Jimma town.
A cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the carriage and AR patterns and to reveal the risk factors of beef contaminated by Salmonella spp. Three hundred and forty-eight swab samples were collected from abattoirs (n=210) and butcher shops (n=138) and the conventional cultural methods were employed for identification of Salmonella. signaling pathway Isolates were subjected to 12 antimicrobials using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method for AR patterns.
