A series of 11 new substituted 1,5-dihydro-4,1-benzoxazepine derivatives was synthesised to study the influence of the methyl group in the 1-(benzenesulphonyl) moiety, the replacement of the purine by the benzotriazole bioisosteric analogue, and the introduction of a bulky substituent at position 6 of the purine, on the biological effects. Their inhibition against isolated HER2 was studied and the structure-activity relationships have been confirmed by molecular modelling studies. The most potent compound against isolated HER2 is 9a with an IC50 of 7.31 µM. We have investigated the effects of the target compounds on cell proliferation. The most active compound (7c) against all the tumour cell lines studied (IC50 0.42-0.86 µM) does not produce any modification in the expression of pro-caspase 3, but increases the caspase 1 expression, and promotes pyroptosis.1. The ileal digestible energy (IDE), metabolisable energy (ME) and nitrogen-corrected ME (MEn) of dry fat (DF) and stabilised rice bran (SRB) were determined in two experiments with broiler chickens using the regression method.2. Chickens were fed a common broiler starter diet from d 0 to 17 and experimental diets from d 17 to 22 post hatching. Three diets were prepared; a maize-soybean meal reference diet (RD) and two test diets containing either DF at 50 or 100 g/kg replacement (Experiment 1) or SRB at 100 or 200 g/kg replacement (Experiment 2) of the energy-contributing ingredients in the RD. In each experiment, 192 chickens were randomly allocated to one of three dietary treatments in a randomised complete block design, comprising eight replicate cages with eight birds per cage.3. In Experiment 1, the IDE, ME and MEn linearly increased (P less then 0.001) with increasing DF concentrations, while in Experiment 2, the IDE, ME and MEn of the diets were not affected by dietary supplemental SRB. The regression-derived IDE concentration for DF and SRB were 25.30 and 14.88 MJ/kg DM, respectively. The respective ME and MEn estimates (MJ/kg DM) were 25.32 and 24.78 for DF; 14.38 and 13.36 for SRB.4. Future focuses should be given to advance algorithms for data analysis, standardized reference libraries, and automated cell isolation techniques in future.The study aimed to determine the variation of Y-chromosome-bearing sperm content among individual ejaculates. A real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) with unique primers was developed and used to calculate the percentage of Y-chromosome-bearing sperm in individual ejaculates from 50 randomly selected men. There was a significant difference in the overall mean ± SD between the proportion of Y-chromosome-bearing sperm and X-chromosome-bearing sperm (45.36 ± 7.88 vs. 54.42 ± 7.88). Of the 50 ejaculates, 17 had more than, and 14 had less than the 99% confidence interval of the mean of the Y-chromosome-bearing sperm (45.58 ± 2.87). Previous studies have not shown the level of health literacy or associated factors on a national level in Turkey using a scale that has been adapted to the country and its culture.

This study aimed to determine health literacy levels in Turkey and to investigate the association of health literacy with socioeconomic factors as well as with the instruments used as sources of health-related information.

This cross-sectional, nationally representative study was conducted using a computer-assisted personal interview approach and included 6,228 households (response rate, 70.9%). The Turkey Health Literacy Scale was used to measure health literacy. Sources of health-related information, such as newspapers, television, internet, and smartphones, were included in the regression model for health literacy.

The proportion of participants with inadequate and problematic health literacy was 30.9% and 38%, respectively, showing that approximately 7 of 10 participants had limited health literacy. The frequencies of ind smartphones as a source of health-related information is associated with health literacy even when accounting for socioeconomic variables.Insect meal (IM) produced from edible insects, such as Tenebrio molitor, has been recognised as a potentially suitable protein component in feeding rations for monogastric livestock. While several studies with broilers have shown that animal´s health is not negatively affected by IM, less is known with regard to the influence of IM on metabolism of pigs. The present study investigates whether IM from Tenebrio molitor larvae causes oxidative stress and activates oxidative stress-sensitive signalling pathways in key metabolic tissues of pigs. To address this question, male 5-week-old crossbred pigs were randomly assigned to three groups of 10 pigs each and fed nutrient-adequate, isonitrogenous diets either without (CON) or with 5% IM or 10% IM from Tenebrio molitor larvae for 4 weeks.
