In this study, we introduced a novel double crosslinked chitin aerogel via etherification with EGDE for mechanical reinforcement. Samples with different EGDE chitin weight ratios from 0 to 1.51 were fabricated through chitin dissolution in KOH/urea aqueous solution, ethanol neutralization and washing, and supercritical CO2 drying. Both the physical and chemical crosslinking maintained the high porosity and light weight of chitin aerogels. The morphology under SEM has shown the close-ended and denser fibrils alignment for EGDE crosslinked aerogels and the mesoporous and macroporous structure induced by emulsion effect from excessive EGDE. FTIR characterization was conducted for chemical structure analysis. Compressive testing showed an increase of 247 % compressive strength at 10 % strain and 243 % modulus could be achieved at 1.0 EGDE samples. TGA results revealed a delayed thermal degradation for the chemically crosslinked samples. This study demonstrates EGDE an effective chemical crosslinker for reinforced chitin aerogels.This study reports the preparation of microspheres of pectin and magnetite nanoparticles coated by chitosan to encapsulate and deliver drugs. Magnetic-pectin microspheres were obtained by ionotropic gelation followed by polyelectrolyte complexation with chitosan. Characterization data show that magnetite changes the physicochemical and morphological properties of the microspheres compared to the non-magnetic samples. Using metamizole (Mtz) as a drug model, the magnetic microspheres showed appreciable encapsulation efficiency (85 %). Release experiments performed in simulated gastric (pH 1.2) and intestinal (pH 6.8) fluids suggested that the release process is pH-dependent. At pH 6.8, the Mtz release is favored achieving 75 % after 12 h. The application of an external magnetic field increased the release to 91 % at pH 6.8, indicating that the release also is magnetic-dependent. The results suggest that the magnetic microspheres based on pectin/chitosan biopolymers show the potential to be used as a multi-responsive drug delivery system.Because of its excellent stability, non-toxicity, biodegradability and unique rheology, welan gum can be widely used in various fields, such as petroleum, biomedicine and food products. Remarkably, the production of welan gum could be further increased by adding 4 mM NaCl at 32 h fermentation, reaching 30.12 ± 0.25 g/L (28.66% higher than no adding), and the NaCl-WG solution had stronger structural, impact resistance, and temperature resistance than H2O2-WG and WG solutions. Furthermore, the mechanism by which NaCl promotes welan gum synthesis was also investigated. Therefore, the addition of NaCl could effectively promote the growth and fermentation performance of Sphingomonas sp., providing a novel strategy for cost-effective welan gum production.In the present research, an optimized liquid medium which had no neutralizing effect to chitosan was developed. Moreover, magnesium chloride (MgCl2) was identified to be able to absolutely neutralize the antibacterial activity of chitosan and its derivatives. Took the two results together, the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of chitosan were precisely quantified through a further improved method based on the optimized medium and the relation curve between antibacterial rate and reaction time was obtained with the help of MgCl2 neutralizer. The MBC and MIC of chitosan were all 30 μg/mL against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and 100 μg/mL of chitosan acetate could reach 100 % of antibacterial rate within 3 min. Furthermore, coordination between magnesium ions and chitosan as well as reduced zeta potential of chitosan caused by coordination were inferred to be the neutralizing mechanism of MgCl2 neutralizer.Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that is generating great expectations in medicine and particularly in radiology. Artificial intelligence will change not only the way we practice our profession, but also the way we teach it and learn it. Although the advent of artificial intelligence has led some to question whether it is necessary to continue training radiologists, there seems to be a consensus in the recent scientific literature that we should continue to train radiologists and that we should teach future radiologists about artificial intelligence and how to exploit it. The acquisition of competency in artificial intelligence should start in medical school, be consolidated in residency programs, and be maintained and updated during continuing medical education. This article aims to describe some of the challenges that artificial intelligencve can pose in the different stages of training in radiology, from medical school through continuing medical education.Effective cardiovascular prevention requires taking advantage of all opportunities for patient contact with the Health Services in order to detect risk factors (CVRF) and global cardiovascular risk stratification (CVR). This particularly involves the Primary Care (PC) services, which must be coordinated with the Hospital Care (HC) in order to make all health resources available to the population. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the contribution of Occupational Health and Pharmacy services. There are hopeful signs as regards the possibility of overcoming the barriers that limit the necessary exchange of information between PC and HC professionals, as a basis for adequate coordination between both levels of care. This includes the implementation of referral and discharge algorithms (in this review this means those related to dyslipidaemias) accepted by professionals at both levels, and currently facilitated by the availability of new corporate tools (mobile, email, virtual consultations). The challenge lies in seizing the opportunity they offer to make their implementation effective.
